The African elephant- In Chad, the population of the African elephant in 1970 was 400,000. In 2006, it was predicted to be only 10,000. People hunted these elephants for their ivory tusks. The trade of ivory tusks has banned and outlawed.
A danger to the savanna biome is hunting. Some people illegally hunt and kill animals for their hides or tusks. They then sell this on the black market for high price. The hunting can kill off most of a species. This causes a unbalanced food web in the ecosystem. This can kill off other species, which is a chain reaction, ruining other species. By the end, all species have lost some of their population.
Another danger is development. Large amounts of the savanna is empty land. Big companies want to use this empty land to build factories and large buildings. This can kill plants and animals, ruining the food web again. It creates pollution, hurting the environment.
